Hangar à Bananes

A row of old banana warehouses on the Île de Nantes, now a strip of casual bars and café terraces stretched along the Loire. Just outside, the Anneaux de Buren — eighteen steel rings — glow red, green and blue at dusk.

No reservation, no specific table. Find us by the water from seven onwards. A short walk to Sunday's brunch, too.

Goguette

A tiny wine bar tucked into the medieval Bouffay quarter — Nantes' oldest cobbled streets. Natural wines, small sharing plates, low light. The kind of room where 'just one drink' becomes a whole evening.

Arrive on time — it really is small. Bouffay is a five-minute walk from anywhere in the centre.

Kuchi

Modern Asian cuisine in the same quiet corner of the old town — moments from Goguette. A long shared table, candlelight, courses that arrive without hurry.

Settle in. The evening is built to be a slow one — eat, talk, drift, repeat.

Les Machines

The mechanical menagerie of the Île de Nantes — a twelve-metre walking elephant, a three-tier marine carousel, the dreamlike Heron Tree. Built on the former shipyards in the spirit of Jules Verne, who was born in this city.

Brunch by the Loire, then wander. The perfect last image of the weekend.
